The show’s plot revolves around eponymous Will Trent, a dyslexic yet very intelligent and observant special agent in the Georgia Bureau of Investigation who outsmarts most of his colleagues solving crimes one after another.
Will isn’t very much welcome in the Bureau due to his fascinating detective abilities, but not many are aware that the character’s biggest incentive is his tough past of an abandoned child in the Atlanta foster care system.
How Is Will Trent Different From Other Detective Shows?

Having survived a lot of things he wished he’d never experienced, Will doesn’t want anyone else to become one more sad example of the same story — and that’s probably what drives him further the most.
Will Trent is very far from being this typical tough detective who doesn’t let his own feelings intervene — quite the contrary, the show clearly demonstrates the main character’s emotional involvement in everything that he gets to investigate.
After all, he may not fit in the audience’s favorite detective shape, but the story is still compelling — and the recent renewal for season 3 is a legitimate proof for it.
