Will 'Our Flag Means Death' Be Renewed? Here's What Taika Waititi Says
HBO Max's 'Our Flag Means Death' became an unexpected fandom hit, with thousands of fans praising its believable depiction of queer joy. So the lack of confirmation of a second season renewal has fans understandibly really anxious.
It's been almost a month since Taika Waititi 's produced and co-starring pirate saga ended, but HBO still hasn't renewed it. Fans are desperately waiting for at least some news and have even launched a petition to appeal to network executives.
Waititi and showrunner David Jenkins seem to be well aware of this complicated situation, discussing the still uncertain fate of the show during the interview for Forbes.
"I don't know anything. I just think that they should because it makes sense. Also, I need to know what happens next," Waititi said.
"It's a rough one to not pick up on after what happened at the end of it. It's a particularly rough one. I hope they figure it out. I hope they want to do more. I know everyone in the show wants to," Jenkins added.
It looks like the show's creators are in the same boat as the rest of us, and now it's up to HBO to make the right decision. Let's hope that Waititi's willingness to return to his role will make someone upstairs give 'Our Flag Means Death ' another chance.
