With new updates about the movie popping up, fans are wondering if the third time will be the charm, and their hopes are not as unfounded as they seem.

Apparently Venom 3 is well on its way to release, despite the mediocre reviews of the second movie, which nevertheless became a financial success.

The third film was announced back in April 2022, and it has just been revealed that Chiwetel Ejiofor has joined the cast.

Curiously, the actor also portrays Baron Mordo in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which makes things a bit confusing since Sony's Spider-Man universe is based on Marvel Comics characters but is not part of the MCU.

But the question that fans are most concerned about is whether the makers of Venom 3 have learned from past mistakes.

One of the main criticisms of the first film was that it wasn't R-rated, even though it featured Carnage, which went against the character's violent origins.

This alien symbiote fused with serial killer Cletus Kasady, portrayed by Woody Harrelson, and fans believe that the film was significantly damaged by being turned into an action-comedy of sorts.

The fact that Carnage, one of Venom's biggest antagonists in the comics, was killed off at the end of his first appearance on the big screen also didn't sit well with audiences, who considered it a highly controversial decision.

The second biggest problem was that it was just too stupid and silly, which completely took away any tension that should be there in a confrontation with such a powerful and unhinged villain.

The first one was also a buddy movie, but many fans felt that the creators went too far with forced comedic scenes in the sequel.

Fans hope that with the third part of the trilogy, the creators will reconsider their questionable decisions and maybe try to make the movie darker and maybe even R-rated.

And these hopes are not completely unfounded, as the next movie in Sony's Spider-Man universe will be Kraven the Hunter, which will be released on October 6, 2023 is already confirmed to be brutal and R-rated.

So maybe they will get their wish.

No further details about Venom 3, including a plot synopsis and a release date, have been announced.
