Will Johnny Depp Really Star In 'Beetlejuice 2'?
According to IMDb, the long-discussed sequel to the 1988 cult classic appears to be in the works with some juicy talent involved.
With no official announcement yet, news of the Michael Keaton-led sequel should be taken with a grain of salt, but Google and IMDb recently revealed a list of stars supposedly involved in the production, including previous film's stars, Keaton and Winona Ryder and new entrants such as Johnny Depp, David Harbour and Will Arnett. While just about anyone can add a listing to IMDb, the official database has set the release date for 'Beetlejuice 2' for 2025.
The database also provided a synopsis that cannot be confirmed or denied, which you can read below.
"Lydia Deetz (Winona Ryder) is wooed by the enchanting Jersey Devil (Will Arnett), despite being married to a struggling real estate agent (David Harbour). Through kooky scenarios and ecstatic characters, the fun never stops. Though entertaining, it is also a heart-wrenching tale that shows Beetlejuice is just another man trying to find his way in the world."
Fans of the original are certainly excited that the sequel is going to happen after all, hoping that a talented new cast will help the story reach new generations of moviegoers. However, most people point out that these databases can be freely edited by anyone, so it's pretty hard to really root for Depp to resume his struggling career until the official announcement.
