Will Ian McKellen Reprise His Magneto Role For Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch Project?
Elizabeth Olsen's Scarlet Witch has already met the fan-favorite member of the X-Men in Patrick Stewart's Professor X, brutally killing him moments later. So maybe it's time for her to meet Xavier's greatest counterpart, Sir Ian McKellen's Magneto?
In the original Marvel Comics, Wanda Maximoff and her brother Pietro were long considered children of Magneto, one of the comics' greatest villains. Although Magneto has been stripped of his parental rights in recent canon, this notion still lives on and certainly promises an exciting opportunity for Wanda's further development in the MCU.
So, when Olsen was finally faced with the question of which actor she would choose to play her MCU mutant father, the actress immediately shoved Michael Fassbender in favor of Sir Ian McKellen.
"I'm gonna go with Sir Ian McKellen. I had the biggest crush on him!" Olsen revealed to Geek Culture.
The legendary British actor first starred as the iconic villain in the 2000 'X-Men', and has reprised his role in many other films over the past 20 years. And it seems 82-year-old McKellen still hasn't forgotten Magneto, responding to Olsen's choice of actor on his Facebook page by stating that "If I had a daughter, I'd hope she'd be like Elizabeth. A treat to be her Daddy!"
Will Kevin Feige set up another major comeback by an actor from the Multiverse to the MCU? Fans are obviously all in favor of this idea.
