Wild Fan Theory Connects Stranger Things to Sam Raimi's Spider-Man And It Works Somehow
Among the many mysteries and threats the main characters face, two entities stand out as particularly enigmatic and powerful — Vecna and the Mind Flayer.
Fans have speculated about their possible connection and significance, especially given their origins in Dungeons & Dragons lore. But what we were to suggest that a totally different universe can also be linked to the world of Stranger Things?
Recently, another interesting theory surfaced on Reddit that may have implications for the series' fifth season. User spawnofspace has suggested Vecna (aka 001, aka Henry Creel) does not control the Mind Flayer, but instead the faceless monster is its own symbiote organism.
The fan believes the creature that once inhabited Will has been working with Vecna, taking on a pleasing form for him to get what it wants. The user believes the Mind Flayer's goal is to evolve like a fungus or virus, filling all space with itself.
The creature began as a Demogorgon, then adapted, multiplied, adapted again, and gained psionic control. The fan thinks the Mind Flayer and the Demogorgon are a symbiotic organism. Like Venom in Sam Raimi 's iconic Spider-Man movie.
So when one monster is wounded, all the others become vulnerable.
There is no evidence Vecna created this menacing creature. In season 4, it is shown again that the monster already existed. The Redditor says that it was the Mind Flayer who infected 001 when he went to the Upside Down.
Henry Creel's form in Hawkins' altered world is similar to the matter in the tunnels where the Demogorgon roamed in season 2. The fan is convinced that it makes no sense for Vecna to be part of and in control of the hive mind unless 001 himself is infected.
The Redditor thinks if El and Vecna clash again, 011 will open another portal. This will create a new version of the Mind Flayer who will turn against Henry Creel. The fan would really hate to see such a development, but cannot deny the possibility for the Duffer brothers to give Vecna one last fight, which will be his redemption arc.
However, some fans disagree with this theory. They argue that when Henry went to the altered dimension, there were only lumps of matter he transformed with his abilities. And all the creatures in Hawkins' Upside Down world are the work of 001.
Who knows, maybe Venom has something to do with the fascinating universe of Stranger Things. After all, the symbiote also came from the vastness of space.
