Why Hate Dennis Kim? Young Sheldon Explains TBBT's Old Rivalry
There's always a reason to hate someone.
If you thought you knew everything about your favorite Big Bang Theory characters, we are ready to prove you wrong. It seems that there are still a few things that fans have yet to find out.
And what could help better than a brand new episode of a spin-off series of the show you love so much. In this case, we are talking about Young Sheldon giving us answers.
We all remember Sheldon Cooper's first rival who we met in season 1 episode 12 of The Big Bang Theory. Yes, it's the one where he hated the young genius Dennis Kim.
Kim was introduced as a physics prodigy from North Korea. And President Siebert thought he would be a good fit at Caltech. But Sheldon was not sure about that.
The show's main nerd was always proud of being the youngest recipient of the Stevenson Award, a prestigious science prize given only to true geniuses.
Then, in this episode, he learned that Dennis is now the youngest person to receive it. And that broke Sheldon's heart and made him hate the guy. But it turns out there was a reason for that feeling.
Sheldon's all-new dilemma in Young Sheldon season 6 episode 19 is a perfect explanation. In that episode, Sheldon discovers that he is way behind in working on his portfolio for his post-graduate aspirations.
Despite being a child genius, he soon realized that getting into the physics department in Caltech will not be an easy task.
Later, in a conversation with his sister Missy, he opened up about his greatest fear: to stop being a young genius and become an ordinary genius.
So that's where the shoe pinches! Kim's appearance echoed Sheldon's feelings of being left behind, as seen in Young Sheldon.
Young Sheldon's new episode airs May 12. Who knows what other revelations are in store?
