Why Has 'The Boys' Spinoff Series Already Lost Three Leading Actors?
Amazon's biggest original show, 'The Boys', is getting ready to launch its third season, but what happened to its spinoff college series announced way back in 2020?
The upcoming untitled series will focus on the G-Men team and will take place at America's only college for teen supes. Amazon promised an R-rated series with dark humor and heartfelt sentiment, but something seems to have gone wrong during its production.
When the show was first announced, showrunning duties were assigned to Crag Rosenberg, who later left the production due to creative differences with the studio. Michelle Fazekas and Tara Butters ('Agent Carter') were hired to replace him, but their treatment of the original material did not seem to please the show's young stars.
Last month, Aimee Carrero and Shane Paul McGhie left the show as leads, and now Reina Hardesty has announced her departure. It seems that current showrunners have rewritten the script and reworked the characters so much that the young stars find themselves starring as characters they never agreed to play.
Three other leads are still sticking with the production, and there is no doubt that the actors who left will be replaced very soon. Let's hope that the new direction chosen by the showrunners doesn't hurt 'The Boys ' universe and will lead to a great, albeit slightly different, series.
