The biggest secret of The Rings of Power season 1 was still left to be a mystery for Galadriel's closest allies if you think about it.

In episode 8 of The Rings of Power, it is revealed that Halbrand was indeed Sauron this whole time. Galadriel is the one unveiling the mystery by simply looking closely into the records of the Southlands history and finding out that his line was broken 1000 years ago without an heir.

This made Halbrand's entire story a lie, and he had no choice but to finally reveal that he is the dark lord Galadriel has been chasing this entire time, desperately trying to prove fellow elves that she's not wrong about Sauron still being out there.

Still, when she finally finds out, she... never tells anyone. Why?

Naturally, when Elrond picks up the records that Galadriel dropped when Sauron tried to drown her, he seems to realize the truth. But Galadriel herself simply says that Halbrand has escaped and they should trust him anymore, without telling the entire truth.

But fans seem to have an explanation. In fact, Sauron itself explained it pretty well, saying "What will they (the Elves) do when you tell them you were my ally? When you tell them that Sauron lives because of you?"

Moreover, some people believe that Galadriel's inner fight on the matter will become one of the main themes of the upcoming season 2.

"I think that an inner battle of Galadriel coming to terms with what has happened will follow in season 2 and her trying to right the wrongs before telling others shall be a theme," Redditor NothingButMammals noted.

There is one more reason for Galadriel to still keep Halbrand's secret: if she revealed the truth to Celebrimbor, they would never make the rings, and those are needed for the elves to survive.

Instead, Galadriel came up with a plan to make three, not two rings, so that a certain balance would be kept when it comes to dealing with great powers of the artifacts.

However, the show has already been roasted for having a lot of plot holes, which is why fans seem to continue to take issue with the way it is written.

"Still doesn't explain why she was all like, 'is the work done? no 'we must stop it'....'ok, make three rings because reasons'" Redditor bravestar3030 noted.

The premiere date for season 2 of The Rings of Power remains unknown, but the shooting has already started. Amazon has confirmed that it aims to create at least five seasons of the show, so the story is far from being over.
