As the release of the Hunger Games spin-off The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes approaches, fans are reminiscing about the original trilogy.

If Katniss wasn't the main character and the action took place in real life, who would win the game of death?

Fans are almost certain that Katniss would not have even made it to the final three if the plot of the movies had been a little more realistic.

Here are the options that seem to make more sense to fans.

Cato

The vast majority of fans agree that Cato should have won. He is smart, with hand-to-hand combat skills and he knows how to use ranged weapons that would allow him to easily get rid of his opponents.

Even Katniss herself says that she and Cato should have stayed in the final.

It was also mentioned by Katniss that Cato is a little deranged, which allows him to go into a berserker-like state during a fight, which increases his physical strength and simply gives enemies no chance to escape.

Thresh

Thresh is another hero with excellent physical and combat skills. Many fans feel that he and Cato should have stayed in the final, where the former would have definitely won.

"It's hard to determine who would win between Thresh and Cato because they are similar in strength but i lean towards Thresh because if I'm not mistaken it states somewhere that he was in fact stronger then Cato.

I also think he could've potentially striked when Cato least expected it," Reddit user user19200281818 suggested.

Clove

But sometimes physical strength isn't enough to win. According to fans, Clove was the main frontrunner for victory, Cato's biggest weakness, which would allow her to reach the finals and deal with the district partner there.

Well, or just kill him in sleep.

"I do think she could have won tho, I believe she was more dangerous then Cato and if she had to kill him to win she wouldn't think twice about it," Reddit user user19200281818 commented.
