Who Are The Illuminati, Now Confirmed to Appear in 'Multiverse of Madness'?
The Illuminati will see you now.
The most recent trailer for 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' has revealed that The Illuminati – a secret group of Marvel superheroes – will be a part of the film. Turns out they were behind Doctor Strange's arrest after he meddled with the multiverse.
Who are they, though?
We don't know everything about the MCU version of the secret group yet, but in the comics, the team consisted of Iron Man, Professor X, Namor, Reed Richards, Black Bolt, and Doctor Strange himself. Clearly, in 'Multiverse of Madness' the lineup is going to be a little different, given that Strange is testifying before the group.
Five Potential Cameos in 'Multiverse of Madness' That Could Be Absolutely Bonkers
In the comics, the secret group joined forces in order to influence the events in the universe, with Iron Man seeing The Illuminati as a superhero equivalent of the United Nations. However, their good intentions sometimes backfired, particularly when their actions led to the drafting of the Superhuman Registration Act – the one that ended up effectively dividing the Avengers.
Among the familiar names in the MCU version of The Illuminati is Professor X, with fans recognizing the voice of Patrick Stewart who portrays him long before Marvel officially disclosed it.
It's unclear who else will be represented, as the trailer does not allow to look closely at any member of the secret group. However, we have to wait for just over a week until May 6, when we'll finally learn more not only about The Illuminati, but also about the multiverse drama that is set to unfold.
