Summary:

  • With Matt Bomer receiving well-deserved critical acclaim for his performances in Fellow Travelers and Maestro, viewers have begun to look back at his past projects.
  • White Collar, the USA Network procedural that premiered in 2009 and launched the actor's career, is now streaming on Netflix.
  • Moreover, according to Bomer, the show is headed for a revival and some news could be coming in the next few years.

After the renaissance that Suits went through after being added to Netflix for a wider audience to enjoy, it is only fair to expect the same treatment for USA Network's other hit, White Collar. With a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the show has already proven to be great, so it deserves the revival as much as Suits deserves its new spinoff.

Looking at all the interviews with the show's star Matt Bomer, it's safe to say that he's ready to put on Neal Caffrey's suit and get back to business. The question is, will the studio be as supportive of the revival?

Will There Be a White Collar Reboot?

There are many things that can get in the way of even the most anticipated television production. From a lack of budget to scheduling conflicts that prevent actors from coming together in a cast that would work best. This is especially true for reboots and revivals, where it's impossible to cut out anyone important to the story.

There is also the pressure to do justice to the original story. No one wants to create a second part to the show that would only ruin its legacy, so all the pros and cons have to be carefully weighed before the writers even approach possible storylines.

Speaking to Deadline, however, White Collar star Matt Bomer assured fans of the 2000s show that those first steps are already being taken. Everyone is excited about the possibility of the show coming back, and there is even a timeline for the project to happen one way or another:

“I guess it is technically in the works. You know these things are never quite as easy as you'd want them to be. And pretty much all of that is out of our control. It seems to be that they are moving in the right direction, and it could be a very real thing in the next year or two,” the actor said.

Even better, Bomer revealed that he's interested in playing an even bigger role in the show's production this time around, so his name could be among the list of executive producers. Knowing that the actor is the biggest supporter of White Collar out there, it's safe to assume that his extra attention will do the revival some good.

Unfortunately, the process of making a TV show isn't very fast, so the couple of years Matt Bomer mentioned in the interview is a realistic deadline we should be looking at. Until then, keep an eye out for more news and updates, and binge-watch the 6 seasons of the original series on Netflix or Hulu.
