Is there a way to watch the hit series without paying for any major platform?

When Game of Thrones wrapped up, it was a disaster with ridiculously terrible reviews, and some fans speculated that HBO wouldn’t ever want to deal with George Martin ’s world again. But the mistake we call GoT Season 8 didn’t leave too long-lasting scars, and with millions of people eager to dive deeper into the politics and wars of Westeros, House of the Dragon soon emerged to take over the banner.

The Targaryen-focused spin-off has been doing really well so far, and it’s only on Season 2 which is currently running. With all the positive reactions, now would be the perfect time to jump on board this train, but what if you’re not subscribed to any major streaming platform and can’t afford to pay for one right now?

Can You Watch HotD for Free?

Like with any other TV show and movie, House of the Dragon can only be watched in two ways: legally, via an official streaming platform, or illegally, via pirate networks.

We don’t condone the latter method as it’s considered an offense in most countries and furthermore, it robs creators of the reward for their hard work, so we’re going to skip over this method.

To watch House of the Dragon officially, you have a few major platforms to choose from. Depending on your region, the list includes but is not limited to: Max for the US, Now TV in the UK, BINGE and Foxtel Now in Australia, Crave in Canada, NEON in New Zealand, and HBO Go in most Asian countries.

All of these services are subscription-based, but this doesn’t mean you can’t watch HotD for free.

To avoid breaking the law with pirate networks and still watch your new favorite show officially, you should make use of the streaming platforms’ free trials. Unfortunately for the US audiences, Max doesn’t offer a free trial, and neither do many of the streamers we mentioned earlier, but that’s where VPN services come into play.

By setting up a VPN for your desired location, you can use local streaming platforms instead of your native ones. In case of House of the Dragon, you would be interested in the UK or New Zealand as both Now TV and NEON offer 7-day free trials, and especially in Australia since BINGE offers 7 days of free trial and Foxtel Now rakes it up to a whopping 10 days without paying a buck.

If you fail to complete the series in the free trial on one platform, you can always switch to a different one. This would allow you to watch House of the Dragon in its entirety for free — and without overstepping any legal boundaries.
