Where Is NCIS Jack Sloane Today?
And what you can watch if you miss her.
Throughout the more than 20 years of NCIS, there have been many heartbreaking departures. Sometimes it was the characters who reached their full potential on the show and needed to move on from NCIS, and other times it was the actors who wanted to pursue other opportunities.
In the case of Maria Bello, who portrayed forensic psychologist Jacqueline Sloane, it was the actress' own decision not to renew her contract. And that decision allowed her to move on to even bigger and better things.
Why Did Maria Bello Leave NCIS?
Although the actress' time on the show was short compared to the show's 21-season run, her character Jacqueline Sloane, also known as Jack, was a fan favorite in her state and is still missed by many viewers. Fortunately, there was no bad blood behind the actress' departure. She ended her NCIS journey when her contract expired.
Since her departure in 2021, the actress hasn't been seen too much on screen. However, one show she has done is Beef, which not only was highly acclaimed by critics around the world, but also earned Bello the Best Supporting Actress Critics' Choice Award, as well as a Primetime Emmy nomination for Outstanding Supporting Actress.
Despite that being her only on-screen credit to date, the actress and producer has been busy behind the cameras. She served as producer and screenwriter for the 2022 historical adventure film The Woman King, starring Viola Davis. The movie was especially important to Bello, who fell in love with Africa long before she had the chance to work there.
“The continent offers itself up to your imagination. I’m so excited about what’s going on there. It’s quite the stereotype that all of Africa is one big safari, but it’s not. <...> There’s so much energy right now on the continent. For me, it’s one of the most exciting places on the planet,” she once said in an interview to The Hollywood Reporter.
The actress has also been busy in her personal life, tying the knot with her partner, three-Michelin-star chef Dominique Crenn. The couple celebrated with an intimate ceremony and weekend in Los Cabos, Mexico in mid-May 2024.
Right now, the actress has shared on her Instagram the news that she is working on her first French/English film. The filming is taking place in Thailand, but there aren't any more details available for the fans. So if you want to follow Maria Bello’s work moving forward, keep an eye out for more news and updates.
