Where is Cassian Andor From?

On September 21st, 2022, Andor, which will have a three-episode launch on Disney+, will begin to chronicle the exploits of Rebel spy Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) during the Rebellion's ascent in the years between 'Star Wars: Episode III' and 'Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope.'

Cassian Andor was originally presented in the anthology series Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, which ultimately explained how the Rebellion obtained the Death Star designs in A New Hope.

The first season of Andor, according to producer Tony Gilroy, would span one year of Cassian's involvement with the Rebellion over the course of 12 episodes, whereas the second season will span four years over the course of four sets of three episodes respectively. Andor isn't the first show to delve into the Rebellion's roots. Its animated forerunner, Star Wars Rebels, accomplished the same, and at the same period in the Star Wars universe.

As a result, Cassian Andor isn't the sole well-known Star Wars character poised to make a comeback. Senator Mon Mothma, who was instrumental in the early stages of the Rebellion, will also rejoin the battle. Forrest Whittaker's rebel Saw Gerrera, who has had notable prior cameos in Rogue One, The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels, The Bad Batch, and EA's Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game, will join Mothma and Andor.

Alex Ferns, Stellan Skarsgard, and Fiona Shaw round out the cast. Overall, Andor is gearing up to be Disney+'s largest original Star Wars series ever, chronicling Cassian Andor's life prior to Rogue One.

Captain Cassian Jeron Andor was born in 26BBY on the planet Fest, making him just 26 years old when he died on Scarif in Rogue One. Cassian received his first taste of battle when he was just six years old, being raised up in the heart of the Clone Wars and losing both his parents at a young age.

Cassian later joined an insurgent cell that the Confederacy of Independent Planets publicly supported during the Clone Wars until the Empire won the conflict, following which he joined other anarchist organizations that resisted the Empire until being officially enlisted to serve the Rebel Alliance.

Diego Luna and Cassian Andor

Diego Luna, who appeared as Cassian Andor in Rogue One, will reprise the role in the upcoming Disney+ prequel. Luna became the first Mexican Star Wars actor, allowing him to use his own accent while also advancing Star Wars' diversity.

In Rogue One, Luna portrayed Andor as a fervent supporter of the Rebel cause, whose own traumatic experience with the Empire informed every action he took as a Captain in Rebellion.
