The actor has proven that he is not only a vampire actor.

Daniel Gillies is a Canadian actor who is best known to viewers for his roles in "vampire" series, of which he has three – True Blood, The Vampire Diaries and The Originals.

In 2008, Gillies appeared in an episode of True Blood and then starred in the famous Vampire Diaries.

In the vampire show, which provided the actor with an army of fans, Gillies transformed into the antagonist Elijah Mikaelson, a representative of the ancient family.

Many fans of the series noted the phenomenal resemblance between Gillies and Nathaniel Buzolic, who played Kol Mikaelson. Some were certain that these actors were brothers not only on screen, but in real life, too.

The Vampire Diaries spinoff The Originals was Daniel's third vampire saga. In the show, Gillies plays not a supporting role, but a major one.

The Originals received five seasons with consistently high ratings and viewership, but the story ended in 2018.

After that, the actor did not star in such high-profile projects as The Vampire Diaries and The Originals, but he did not end his acting career either.

After finishing The Originals, Daniel starred in SEAL Team where he played Nate Massey, a Tier-One Operator. Then the actor played a major role in the thriller The Lost Wife of Robert Durst.

The movie tells about the sensational case of the disappearance in the early 80s, Kathie.

The wife of the heir to a multi-billion dollar business empire goes missing, and her husband manages to get away with her death for many years, despite numerous evidences against him.

Although the movie received less than enthusiastic reviews, it helped to see the actor's performance from the other side.

The actor then starred in the Netflix series Virgin River, where he played Mark. After that, he played Wing Commander Hayes in the sci-fi thriller Occupation: Rainfall, which grossed only $343,000 and received average reviews from viewers and critics.

Daniel's most recent work was a role in the thriller Coming Home in the Dark, where he played the lead character Mandrake.

The movie tells a story about a teacher and his family who are taken hostage by two ruthless vagrants. The protagonist is forced to recall his cruel past and come to terms with the perpetrators.
