What Vampire Diaries Cast Has Been Doing Since the Show Ended?
Six years later, here's what happened to the cast of the most popular vampire show on television.
When The Vampire Diaries premiered in 2009, fans were introduced to some of the most memorable characters to date. High school student Elena fell in love with vampire Stefan Salvatore and later his bad boy brother Damon Salvatore. The whole trio turned into vampires, and it was the chemistry between the actors that made the show so popular.
Ian Somerhalder
Ian Somerhalder, who played Damon Salvatore, starred in another supernatural project after The Vampire Diaries – the series V-Wars, where he also worked as a producer. He also starred in the drama Time Framed and the crime thriller Cradlewood. Somerhalder is friends with co-star Paul Wesley and together they produce a bourbon called Brother's Bond Bourbon.
Paul Wesley
Paul Wesley not only played one of the main roles in the TV series The Vampire Diaries, but also acted as a producer and director of the project. After its completion, Wesley became the director of the spin-off Legacies, as well as the series Batwoman and Roswell, New Mexico. Paul did not abandon his acting career and starred in such projects as Medal of Honor, Tell Me a Story, Fabled, Flowers in the Attic: The Origin.
Nina Dobrev
Many fans of the series were shocked when Nina Dobrev, who played the role of Elena Gilbert, suddenly left the project in 2015. However, in 2017 she returned to star in the final season. Nina actively develops her acting career. She starred in movies like xXx: Return of Xander Cage, Flatliners, Lucky Day, Love Hard and the TV series Fam. Together with her friend Julianne Hough, Nina has released a collection of low-calorie wines.
Candice King
In The Vampire Diaries, Candice King played the role of Caroline Forbes, the captain of the cheerleaders. After the project ended, Candice starred in the spin-off The Originals, the TV series The Orville, and the movie After We Collided. In 2018, Candice started a podcast called Directionally Challenged.
Kat Graham
Actress Kat Graham, who played the role of the witch Bonnie Bennett, is developing her career in several directions at once. She voiced characters in the animated series Rise of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Trolls: TrollsTopia, starred in the movies Collide, Love in the Villa, The Emperor and many more. Kat is also a singer and has released several albums.
Steven R. McQueen
On the show, Steven played the role of Elena's younger brother, Jeremy. McQueen stayed on the project for six seasons, then appeared in several episodes of Chicago Fire and Chicago P. D., returning to The Vampire Diaries for the finale. After the project, he starred in its spinoff, Legacies, as well as the western The Warrant.
