What Jared Padalecki Really Thinks About The Winchesters Prequel
We all remember that Twitter drama that erupted when Jensen Ackles revealed the Supernatural prequel was in the works.
Actor Jared Padalecki, who we know and love as Sam Winchester in Supernatural and Cordell Walker in Walker, is not as bitter about The Winchesters as one might have thought.
In 2021, when Ackles posted a link to a Deadline report that broke the news on The Winchesters being in the works, Padalecki's reaction was unexpected – to say the least. He responded to the tweet, saying that he was "happy" for Ackles but implying that he would have loved to know about the prequel not from Twitter. Padalecki also seemed hurt because Sam Winchester did not appear to be involved in the new show.
However, the two actors have no bad blood, Padalecki reiterated.
"I think he and I were both rather things had gone down a different way," Jared told Michael Rosenbaum on the podcast Inside of You recalling how he and Jensen made peace after the bombshell tweet. "They didn't. But it's not productive to say, like, who's to blame or what happened."
Padalecki indicated that the book on Supernatural is "not closed", making it clear that he remains open to helping telling the story.

The Sam Winchester actor assured that there is no person in the world who would be happier for Jensen than him. However, it surely seems that The Winchesters announcement was "a hardship" in the relations between the two.
Back in 2021, the Twitter drama between Ackles and Padalecki did make some waves, with many Sam fans also being outraged by the fact that Jared was not involved in the making of the Supernatural prequel at all.

Despite being touted as a flashback to the love story of John and Mary Winchesters, the prequel does feature Ackles as an executive producer and, most importantly, an actor, with Jensen reprising the role of Dean once again and narrating the series as the events unfold. The show has already been grilled by fans for what appears to be an attempt to retcon Supernatural, but Ackles has assured fans that he will stay true to the canon no matter what.
The Winchesters premieres on The CW on October 11.
