Wednesday Who? Jack Ryan Season 3 Beats Netflix's Hit Show, Sets Epic Record
It's official: Jack Ryan has dethroned Netflix's latest hit, Tim Burton's Wednesday, as the king of streaming series.
According to Nielsen's latest US ranking of streaming originals, the John Krasinski-starring Tom Clancy series amassed an impressive 834 billion minutes across its 24 episodes, leaving Wednesday in the dust with a measly 80 billion minutes over 8 episodes. Third and fourth place goes to another two Netflix 's shows, The Recruits Emily in Paris, respectively. Also in the top five is Peacock 's The Best Man: The Final Chapters.
Wednesday and Jack Ryan are two completely different entities with two completely different audiences, as it was reported that almost two-thirds of Jack Ryan's viewers were over 50 years old, with 56% of its viewership being male.
But let's not count Wednesday out just yet. The series has just been confirmed for a second season, with creators Al Gough and Miles Millar promising to "explore the kooky spooky world of Nevermore" and maybe a lot more of Wednesday and Enid's friendship in the upcoming episodes.
Jack Ryan Season 3 Repeats Annoying House of the Dragon Problem
As for Jack Ryan, fans can look forward to even more action and suspense in the upcoming season 4, which has already been filmed and is expected to drop in the latter half of this year. However, it's worth noting that this might be the final season for the series, as Krasinski's contract is reportedly only for four seasons.
"I don't know if this is the last time I'll play this character… I might just do it tonight in my living room, just to keep it going!" Krasinski himself said in an interview. And it seems like Amazon is also keen on keeping the Tom Clancy franchise on air, with reports of various spin-offs in the works, including one starring Michael Peña.
So, for now, it's all eyes on Jack Ryan as it takes the streaming world by storm. Seasons 1-3 are available for streaming now on Prime Video.
