Not only did her appearance break the cameo rule, but her character revelation storyline was the highlight of the show.

Wednesday is definitely a hit for Netflix. Premiering in November, it's still on everyone's minds, and fans are still obsessing over every single plot detail.

And one of the creative team's decisions is still driving fans crazy with its genius. Yes, we are talking about former Addams Family actress Christina Ricci playing Marilyn Thornhill on Wednesday.

The actress appeared on the show as Mrs. Thornhill, Wednesday's only "normie" teacher, who doesn't have a tendency to look down on her students, especially Miss Addams herself.

She has a pleasant personality, which fits well with her career path as a botany teacher.

Most part of the show, she was someone that Wednesday could rely on. But then the unexpected happened.

As if making a former Addams a part of a new Addams show wasn't enough, the writers had something else interesting up their sleeves for Ricci.

And so, in the blink of an eye, she became the show's biggest villain.

This moment is the meta part of the show, according to fans. Wednesday's friend Eugene, after being attacked by a monster, remembers the red boots he saw right after the attack.

And Mrs. Thornhill's exact red boots have been highlighted all through the show, making it obvious that she was part of the monster attacks.

As it turned out, her real name was Laurel Gates, and it was her brother that Morticia Addams had once accidentally killed in self-defense.

More to the point, Thornhill was also a descendant of Joseph Crackstone, whom she used Wednesday's connection to Goody Addams to revive.

So the bright personality of Mrs. Thornhill was just a mask, and in reality she is a much more sinister character than Wednesday, who was supposed to be the show's darkest character.
