Wednesday's Biggest Mistake? Not Casting Oscar Isaac as Gomez Addams
While we all love Luis Guzmán's Gomez Addams in Wednesday, fans seem to think that Netflix has robbed us of an even more perfect Gomez by not casting Oscar Isaac.
Hear us out – we have reasons.
1. He Already Knows the Character
People have been clamoring for Isaac to take on the iconic role in a live-action ever since he voiced Gomez Addams in the 2019 animated movie, The Addams Family.
By the way, he later reprised the role in the 2021's sequel, The Addams Family 2.
He gave such an amazing performance in both movies that fans immediately started campaigning for Isaac to play Gomez Addams in Tim Burton's series adaptation. Too bad they were unsuccessful!
2. He Practically Played Gomez
Oscar played Blue Jones in 2011's Sucker Punch, which had nothing to do with The Addams Family franchise whatsoever, yet he still looked like a young Gomez without even trying. Just check it out if you don't believe us.
Imagine having Gomez's signature slick hair and mustache and still not being offered the part… What a missed opportunity!
1. He Is Gomez Addams IRL
Remember Oscar Isaac 's weird moment with Jessica Chastain on the red carpet? This kiss was both weird and smooth! Remind you of anyone?
We don't know, perhaps a character who is known for being weird and smooth…
Fans have been quick to compare this viral kiss to when Gomez kisses Morticia's arm in both the 1991's The Addams Family and the original show from the 1960s. An uncanny resemblance, don't you think?
On the other hand, maybe it is a good thing that Oscar Isaac wasn't cast in Wednesday. After all, the series centers around Gomez and Morticia's daughter, and they are only recurring characters at best.
That would be a huge waste of Isaac's talent!
However, if the show is successful (based on season 1, it will be), we could be looking at another Addams Family reboot, which means that Oscar Isaac might still have his chance to shine in the legendary role.
Fingers crossed!
