We Need to See This Shameless Star in Star Wars Screen Adaptations ASAP
Perhaps with the release of Jedi: Survivor, we will finally see Cal Kestis outside of the video games.
Ever since Cameron Monaghan, best known for his role as Ian Gallagher on the American television series Shameless, portrayed the ginger-haired Jedi Cal Kestis in the Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order video game in 2019, fans have been clamoring for his appearance in other Star Wars media.
The most popular speculation was that he would appear in the Obi-Wan Kenobi TV series, as the tone of the show would have been perfect for another rogue Jedi.
Unfortunately, this cameo never came to fruition, adding to the series' many missed opportunities, and Cal's next possible appearance remained clouded when the game's sequel was officially announced.
But now that the sequel has been officially released, hopes for his appearance outside of the games have been rekindled. Beware of mild spoilers for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor.
Since it was unclear if Cal would even survive the events of the second game, the chances of him appearing in other media remained slim.
But now that it is clear that his story will continue, fans have begun to develop new theories about seeing their favorite character in a movie or TV show.
The best possibility for a cameo appearance would be the second season of the Andor TV series, as Cal has already established a relationship with the rebels and, most importantly, with Saw Gerrera.
Saw already appeared in the first season of the series, and with high chances that we will see him move his base of operations to Jedha in the second season, there is a possibility for him to cross paths with Cal, or at least mention him. Moreover, Jedha was also introduced in Jedi: Survivor, further establishing the possibility of their meeting.
Another possibility, though less obvious, is that he appears in the Ahsoka TV series. Cal's relatively young age makes it quite possible that he could live long enough to reach the post-Episode VI era.
Although Cameron Monaghan has previously stated that a live-action appearance is not a priority for him, he has admitted that he "loves Cal" and that "we'll see".
Now that the main obstacle to his appearance has been removed, fans can only hope that it will happen one day.
