At least Howard and Bernadette can be grateful.

If there is one thing we can all agree on about The Big Bang Theory, it is that the show did Raj very dirty by not allowing him to take a break from bad relationships.

Jumping from one partner to the next, the guy was either terribly shy and struggling with his selective mutism in the beginning, or didn't know how to choose a woman who was right for him in the end.

One of his girlfriends, Lucy, is so bad that even mentioning her name makes the fandom's blood boil.

At first, she is seen as simple and awkward, which makes her look approachable from Raj's perspective, but as they get closer, it turns out that she brings out the worst in him. It was only after the long-awaited breakup that fans were able to let go of the situation.

However, there is one thing that Lucy brought to the show that ultimately helped create one of The Big Bang Theory's sweetest moments. Remember that song Howard sang to Bernadette? Well, it turns out it was written by Garfunkel and Oates, the duo name for Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome, who portrayed Lucy and Ramona on the show.

The duo was approached by Steve Molaro, and a week later the song now known as "If I Didn't Have You" was born. The actress recalled the process of writing the song in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

“We were on set every day. It was so exciting to watch Simon and the cast sing it. Simon is such an amazing actor and musician; he never failed to bring us to tears <...> There was only one take. Simon nailed it,” Micucci shared.

This was not only a fun experience for the duo, but also a cathartic moment for the show. Howard declaring his love for Bernadette in such a heartfelt and very public way was also the moment he admitted how happy he was about the decision to leave his past life behind and dive headfirst into their exciting future together.

If you want to watch the episode again and enjoy the cast's performance, you can stream The Big Bang Theory on Netflix or Max.
