It's only been a few days since Barbie finally had a chance to prove herself, not just in colorful commercials and thoughtful interviews, but in the actual movie. There was no doubt that the movie would not only meet but exceed expectations, but no one could have imagined that it would more than double its budget in its first weekend.
With a flying start of $337 million at the box office, Barbie is making her way around the world, country by country. Margot Robbie, who portrays the lead Barbie, and Ryan Gosling, whose performance was immediately recognized as one of the strongest in the cast, of course lead the team.
If you've already seen Barbie and are devastated that it's over, there's some very good news waiting for you. Hollywood is not a place to let go of a duo that works, so Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling seem to be entering the realm of celebrities who are destined to continue being cast together again.
In fact, there is already a movie to look forward to. What's even better is that it's not just one movie: two actors are set to reunite on screen in an Ocean's Eleven prequel film, written by Carrie Solomon and directed by Jay Roach.
The news of Margot Robbie joining Roach not only as an actress but also as a producer of the film went out in the spring of 2022, but now the project is fully confirmed and has already gone into the early stages of production.
Although there isn't much to know about the movie yet, except that it's a love story set during the Monaco Grand Prix in 1962, Jay Roach has shared his thoughts on reuniting Robbie and Gosling as a couple on screen:
"Originally there were some questions about whether it would be weird to have (Margo Robbie and Ryan Gosling) together again after Barbie. But I think there's just some pairings you want to see over and over again. It's such a powerful, powerful duo, you know?"
