Walking Dead Fans Hate How This Beloved Character Was Forced Into Spinoff
Was it right to move Morgan to Fear The Walking Dead, and will we see him again?
Morgan Jones has been on The Walking Dead right from the start, and fans have totally fallen in love with his character. His evolution from a guy trying to wrap his head around the whole zombie mess to a total badass who'd go to any lengths to keep his loved ones safe has been one of the most gripping storylines on the show.
In Season 8 of The Walking Dead, Morgan's story took a sudden turn. After leaving Rick’s group, he joined a new group of survivors led by a character named John Dorie. This group was part of the spinoff series Fear The Walking Dead.
Morgan's move to Fear The Walking Dead left many fans disappointed and upset, as they felt that his story was not finished on the original show.
Lennie James, praised by fans for his portrayal of Morgan, explained in an interview with Screen Rant why Morgan was transferred to Fear The Walking Dead.
According to James, there were things that executive producer Scott M. Gimple wanted to explore with Morgan that would be difficult to include in The Walking Dead's storyline. Gimple felt that Fear The Walking Dead provided more opportunities for these stories to be told.
While some fans are still disappointed that Morgan had to leave the original series, others were excited to see where his character would go on Fear The Walking Dead. Some fans believe that FTWD really allowed Morgan's character to grow and evolve in new ways.
Spoiler alert for episode 6 of Fear The Walking Dead.
Last Sunday the mid-season finale of Fear The Walking Dead was released. In that episode, Morgan and his daughter, Mo, set off on a mission to find Rick all by themselves. In an interview with Comicbook.com, Lennie James revealed that we won't see him in the rest of the final season of FTWD.
Does it mean we won’t see Morgan again? Not necessarily, he might still appear in one of the upcoming spinoffs. TWD: Rick and Michonne, set to premiere in 2024, seems like the best option for Morgan’s another comeback. Let’s hope we’ll get to properly bid farewell to the veteran of the TWD universe.
