'Wakanda Forever' Leak: MCU's Namor Reportedly Retconned, But Fans Kinda Like It
In Marvel comics, Namor looks a lot like DC's Aquaman, but if the new leaks are true, 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' will have the Sub-Mariner altered.
Comic book fans – pretty much like any other dedicated fans – are not particularly known for their joy when their favorite characters get drastically changed in screen adaptations. However, this is not the case with Namor in 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever ', since people turned out to be rather okay with the leaked image of how the character may look in the upcoming movie.
According to the yet unconfirmed leaks shared by insider MyTimeToShineH, Namor's roots are going to be Aztec, even though originally the character comes from Atlantis.
The alleged new character design envisages Namor rocking some Mayan-looking bracelets and earrings, unlike his comic book version that simply wore green swimwear and had pretty outstanding angular eyebrows. The new version also boasts a green collar likely inspired by Aztec jewelry.
Some fans seem to enjoy the idea of retconning Namor like that.
But not everyone is happy. There were people who suggested that if Marvel wanted to sprinkle Marvel with some ancient Mexican culture, it could have gone with actual Aztec gods.
Still, many believe that the change comes from Marvel's unwillingness to have characters similar to those that have already appeared on screen.
There is still a chance that the leaks do not have anything in common with Namor's final look in the movie. We will get to see if it is true or not on November 11, when 'Black Panther: Wakanda Forever' premieres in theaters.
