Virgin River Season 4 Was The Worst So Far; Will The Show Ever Recover?
Netflix's melodrama is beginning to tire its audience, but there may still be a chance for improvement.
The story of a Los Angeles nurse who leaves the big city in search of love and peace and moves to a small town in northern California premiered in 2019 and immediately caught viewers' attention for its well-developed characters as well as an interesting and mature take on romantic relationships.
But despite a promising start, fans began to doubt the series' writing team, describing each new season as more tedious and predictable than the previous one.
And with season four deemed to be the weakest, it's time to wonder if there's actually any good reason to keep watching Virgin River when season five premieres.
The biggest problem that fans have with the series is its storytelling approach: many believe that the show's creators purposely make all the storylines feel much, much longer than they should be.
People are tired of waiting for answers to some of the cliffhangers, and when Virgin River does give them, they turn out to be ordinary and not surprising at all. Everything in the series is excruciatingly slow, and that kills the wonderful atmosphere that initially attracted fans to the show.

To support their criticism, fans mentioned Charmaine, a character pregnant with twins.
Viewers can't wait to see the babies and the impact they can have on the community, but the heroine has been pregnant for four seasons now! Charmaine's storyline is so slow, people are just tired of waiting to see what happens to her next.
Furthermore, viewers admit to falling asleep during most episodes or skipping huge portions of seasons to get to the final episodes sooner, which is certainly not a good sign for the future of Virgin River. The show's writers are clearly hearing the complaints, and if they do nothing, they can lose much of their fandom after season five.
All they have to do is speed up some storylines, give fans a change of scenery, introduce new characters, and develop old ones. But can they pull off these changes in time for season five?
