Virgin River's Showrunner Reveals His (Unexpectedly) Favorite Character

Virgin River is a romantic series that unexpectedly became a hit on Netflix.

Despite the fact that there was no huge PR campaign for the show and the promotion of it was quite modest, the series is still adored by viewers and is even considered by fans to be better than some more famous ones.

And now that season 5 is just around the corner, everyone is waiting for their beloved characters to return to the screen.

Although the fans have no idea what will happen in the new season, they know who they want to see most of all.

And that includes Colin Lawrence, who has played John "Preacher" Middleton since the Virgin River premiered in 2019.

And the show's creator, Patrick Sean Smith, along with several other behind-the-scenes players, are very excited about his presence in future episodes, with the showrunner admitting to TV Line that Preacher is a character they all particularly love and can't wait to develop his story further.

Smith said it's because the actor's character is such an exception on television, he's unique, and as Smith admits, "You don't see many men with such a sense of honor and purpose and truth."

That's why one of the main storylines in his future will be Preacher's personal relationships.

Smith told TV Line in the same interview that two specific personal relationships will, in fact, be in the center of attention in the upcoming season.

Paige and Christopher Lassiter, a mother and son duo, have complicated Preacher's life in many ways since season 1.

And it looks like their story will be at the center of the new season.

Smith also explained that Preacher and Paige may not have their romantic relationship. The thing is, there is also Julia who is waiting for her turn to be with him.

Now we all have to let that information sink in and wait for season 5 to finally come out.

The premiere is expected at some point in summer 2023, likely in July, according to some of the cast members.
