Virgin River Needs to Seriously Tone it Down With Pet Names
They love each other. We get it.
Virgin River may be a great romantic drama for binge-watching in peace, but there is one thing that fans are already tired of — the terms of endearment the show just won't stop shoving into pretty much every line of dialogue.
It's not that people want to cancel the words "babe" or "honey", it's just that Virgin River appears to use them so much it starts to cringe fans out.
"No couple in the history of couples calls each other honey, sweetheart, babe, etc. more than [Mel and Jack] do. And they overdo the 'I love you' thing too. Mel really needs to tone it down," Redditor ApplesAndPants said.
Other fans are exhausted from Jack's constant "Have I told you today how beautiful you are" and "You are the most compassionate human being" lines. They worked amazingly for the first couple of times, but quickly degraded into pure cringe because of the "overkill", people say.
"Look, honey, if you're telling me you don't call your darling partner your sweetypie babygirl goo goo doll every hour of their life, how are the viewers to know that your relationship is even real?" Redditor conquestofroses wondered sarcastically.
Still, there is hope for season 5 to tone down on "honeys" and "darlings", since the new showrunner, Patrick Sean Smith, will be in charge. Redditors already beg him to reduce the amount of sweetness in dialogues — or at least "work on the overuse".
Virgin River's Upcoming Season 5 Already Fell Into Grey's Anatomy Trap
In September 2021, Virgin River was greenlit for seasons 4 and 5. Season 4 was released on Netflix on July 20, 2022. The premiere date for the fifth chapter remains to be scheduled, and the creative crew behind the show has already hinted that fans might want to brace themselves for more drama and intensity.
