Unpopular Opinion: Andor is Way Too Slow and Worse Than Kenobi
Despite an unusual amount of high praise for the newest Star Wars show, Andor is not universally loved.
Andor has already established itself as a Star Wars show that is dramatically different from its peers. It does not shy away from mature topics and has set a pretty grim tone, which was not the case with Obi-Wan Kenobi or any other Star Wars media.
While the majority of fans praise the showrunners for challenging the Star Wars canons and offering something new, others would have clearly preferred things to remain as they were.
Even though Obi-Wan Kenobi faced a lot of fan criticism when it premiered back in May, some fans believe that Andor is even worse.
"Hate me, downvote me, call me names, do whatever – but the duel with Kenobi and Vader in E6 was better tv than all 3 of these episodes combined, as was E5," u/SW_and_Stonks suggested on Reddit.
However, other Star Wars lovers pointed out that the comparison might be a tad inaccurate, given that the duel between Darth Vader and Kenobi was the climax of the show, while Andor is only getting started.
"Star Wars fans: Why do they keep catering to children? Do something for adults!
Also Star Wars fans: This show is so booooring! Just people talking! I need more fight scenes! Explosions!" – u/augustus624
Slow pace and lack of direct connection to other pieces of Star Wars media has already been highlighted as one of Andor's biggest albeit arguable flaws. According to the critics, Andor "doesn't feel like Star Wars".
New episodes arrive on Disney Plus every Wednesday. The season consists of 12 episodes in total.
