Changing the whole show is okay if it just makes it better.

Stranger Things season 5 is still in the works, but fans can't stop wondering what it will bring. Will the Hawkins gang destroy Vecna? Or will they all die in the end? There are many theories about the finale of the series, although nothing is certain yet.

Fans are also curious about the future of Steve Harrington, played by Joe Keery. As it was recently revealed, his character was once on the verge of being killed off, but that never happened.

It turned out that Steve Harrington was only supposed to appear in season 1 of the show. On paper, the character was not very likable and had the worst personality traits. But when Keery portrayed him on screen, it seemed that there was too much potential in the character that was worth saving.

Even the actor himself was surprised. He admitted in an interview with GQ that he fully expected his character to be killed off because he "played the douchey sort of boyfriend who is the first guy to die.

Needless to say, the Duffer Brothers (the show's creators) made a perfect choice when they decided to save the character, as he became one of the most loved characters on the show.

The same thing actually happened with another popular show, Breaking Bad. It's hard to imagine now, but originally Jesse Pinkman was supposed to die tragically at the end of season 1.

But the thing is, Aaron Paul's portrayal of Jesse gave the audience so much more than was planned that it just became obvious that continuing the show without him would be a huge mistake.

Similar to Joe Keery's case, the show's creator Vince Gilligan saw the sincerity with which Paul portrayed a flawed character like Pinkman. And now these two characters have become the actor's signature roles.
