Unexpected Big Bang Theory Spinoff That Fans Could Really Get Behind
At this point, anything without Sheldon in it goes.
News of The Big Bang Theory spin-off surprised fans three years after the show ended. While some are happy to see a few more stories from the lives of their favorite characters, others are not sure if a spinoff is necessary at all.
However, with the end of the Young Sheldon prequel looming, some viewers are hoping that the spinoff will be a continuation of sorts.
For six seasons, viewers have grown more attached to the Cooper family than to Sheldon himself, who has become a supporting character in his own show.
As shaky as George and Mary's marriage is, and no matter how many problems Georgie and Missy encounter along the way, viewers are willing to spend much more time with them.
And if the storylines of the older family members are destined to end sooner, the younger Coopers can compete with other characters in The Big Bang Theory universe for a series of their own.
As Reddit user BackItUpWithLinks suggested, there is a lot of potential in Georgie's spinoff, if one is created.
We know a perfect amount about his background, and almost nothing about his later story (other than the fact that he becomes the largest tire supplier in Texas), so the writers could do pretty much anything they want with his character.
No more sudden regrets, no more problems with canon that they couldn't change.
Casting wouldn't be an issue either, since Montana Jordan could just keep playing Georgie throughout his young adult years.
The actor is 20 now, which means that with a few years of production, he would be perfect for the role. Finally, Georgie Cooper's story would suggest a cameo by his sister Missy, who is also a good candidate to share the screen with.
All Young Sheldon fans agree that the kids' stories have already become far more interesting than the main character's, so it would be fun to see them evolve without losing the retro-Texas aesthetic that everyone loves so much.
Since the spin-off was only recently announced, there are no official details yet. However, you can still enjoy Young Sheldon by tuning in to CBS on Thursdays.
