Maybe the reason Allison was so evil in season 3 was there all along, and we chose to ignore it.

Umbrella Academy season 3 was definitely not Allison's finest hour. After dealing with a lot of losses (just like the rest of the chaotic Hargreeves family), Allison decided she no longer wanted to be a nice girl and practically went rogue.

After giving pretty much everyone a hard time over the course of the season, she ended up siding with Reginald and nearly having her entire family killed for the sake of her father's reality reboot plan.

Though she backed down in the final moments, Allison did not end up in the same place as the rest of the family in the reality reboot. However, her villainous behavior in season 3 may have a perfectly reasonable explanation.

According to a fan theory by Redditor Disco_Roberts, it all went completely wrong for Allison when she tried to rumor herself into happiness at some point in the season. She tried it while talking to herself in the mirror, but it only resulted in some broken glass... or did it?

The fan theory suggests that Allison may have created a "blip" between her personality and the rumor ability, allowing the latter to take control of her mind. The author of the theory compares it to the Elden Ring in Lord of the Rings, where it's not exactly the hero who wants to use it, but the ring itself demands it.

That's why, according to the theory, Allison was so angry during season 3. It all culminated when she basically raped Luther, rumouring him into "wanting" her.

If the theory is true, then Season 4 may have a tough character journey in store for Allison. Apparently, she will have to deal with some sort of interpersonal conflict, especially now that the new reality has her lost husband and daughter.

Will Allison be able to handle it all without the help of her chaotic siblings, or will season 4 finally have them all realize that they have to work together as a family to finally stop all the apocalypses? All we can do now is wait.

No premiere date has been set for Season 4, but Netflix has confirmed that production has begun.
