Netflix's The Witcher is notorious for deviating too much from the source material, which disappointed Henry Cavill. It turns out that one more showrunner's decision did not sit well with the actors.

The Witcher franchise – be it books, games or TV shows – has always been known for its liberal attitude towards intimate scenes.

Netflix has not slowed down in this regard and has also included explicit content in the series.

It turns out that some of them should have been more explicit, something that stars Anya Chalotra and Henry Cavill objected to.

The characters of Anya and Cavill, Yennefer and Geralt have complex romantic relationship throughout the story that is not just about passion.

It was not an easy interaction, largely because of the lives they led. Their communication was like a game: eccentric and bizarre.

Their fates became even more intertwined with the appearance of Cirilla. Therefore, the actors did not want to reduce their characters' interactions to carnal pleasures.

"We wanted it to be emotional rather than sexual. It was really, really important and we had to lean away from what was originally on the page. […] So, Anya and I worked to make sure that that was an emotional beat rather than anything else," Henry said in his interview with Syfy.

Explicit content undoubtedly draws more viewers to the screens, that is a long known truth.

But Henry and Anya argued for more thoughtful disclosure of the couple's history and the use of intimate scenes that should be an integral part of their relationship, not a foundation.

As a result, according to the actors, some scenes were not seen at all, and some were more modest than The Witcher showrunner Lauren Hissrich intended.

It is also known that Lizzy Talbot joined the crew in the second season as an intimacy coordinator. In recent years, this position has become quite popular in the production of movies and television shows.

The coordinator's job is to create a comfortable environment for the actors so that they feel safe and can play their roles as freely as possible in each such scene.

In a general sense, the scene should be as authentic as possible with the least amount of resources.

Fans will soon be able to follow the Witcher's adventures, but without Henry Cavill. Season 3 will be released in the summer of 2023.
