Two More GoT Prequels Capable of Dethroning House of the Dragon
Prequels will reign.
House of the Dragon proved to be a successful experiment for the Game of Thrones universe, with many people going as far as rendering the prequel superior to the original show.
Well, it looks like HotD reign might not be too long, as the fandom is already mulling the possibility for more prequel series that might end up being even better than the Dance of the Dragons show.
The Targaryen family history is rich in violence, tragedy and wars. One of the series that fans are now yearning to see is a TV adaptation of King Aegon I Conquest — an audacious military campaign that basically made him the single ruler of the Seven Kingdoms and placed the Targaryen family in charge of Westeros. This would be a prequel for House of the Dragon, so chronologically, some fans believe it makes sense to do something else first.
Two Times Catelyn Was Wrong on Game of Thrones – With Disastrous Results
This "something else" could be the First Blackfyre Rebellion — a war fought between the forces of King Daeron II Targaryen and the rebel forces of his half-brother, Daemon I Blackfyre. Seriously, who wouldn't love yet another Targaryen civil war that threatens to divide the Seven Kingdoms? Besides, such a show would fill the gap between House of the Dragon and Game of Thrones, weaving the two series together into a cinematic timeline.
While fans are ready to debate over which of the prequels should come first, both camps agree that the storylines are perfectly capable to be even more exciting than House of the Dragon. Blackfyre Rebellion works well as a "glue" between Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon, but Aegon's Conquest has the potential to deliver what could be the most impressive sight of the entire universe... Yes, we're talking about Westeros' biggest dragon in history, Balerion, conquering the realm.
It Was a Crime For HotD to Leave This Dragon Scene Out
Currently, however, the fandom has to prepare itself for the second season of House of the Dragon, which is set to delve even deeper into the bloody turmoil that is Dance of the Dragons. The shooting is set to kick off in March, while the premiere is slated for 2024.
