Two Mandalorian Stunt Doubles Will Make You Wonder If You Even Like Pedro Pascal That Much
You thought Pedro was the star of the show? Think again.
All Star Wars fans know and love Pedro Pascal, the actor who brought the title character of The Mandalorian TV series, Din Djarin, to life.
But did you know that most of the time you see the character on screen, he is played by not one, but two other people?
Brendan Wayne and Lateef Crowder portray the character when his helmet is on, which, let's face it, is 95% of the time.
They combined their efforts to create the recognizable movements and body language that reflect the space bounty hunter's personality for viewers to feast their eyes on.
Lateef Crowder has worked on a variety of action films, including Captain America: Civil War, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Deadpool 2 and many more.
Born in Salvador, Bahia, Brazil, he was taught capoeira by his father. His martial arts skills paved his way to Hollywood, eventually leading to his portrayal of Din, for which he even won a Primetime Emmy Creative Arts Award for Outstanding Stunt Performance in 2022.
Brendan Wayne is the grandson of legendary Golden Age of Hollywood star John Wayne, who greatly influenced Brendan's career choice.
He met Jon Favreau, the creator of The Mandalorian, while working on Cowboys & Aliens, a 2011 American sci-fi western action film directed by Jon. This fateful meeting eventually led to his involvement with the Star Wars television series.
The Mandalorian is heavily influenced by the western movies, which, among other things, served as George Lucas' inspiration to create Star Wars in the first place.
This led to the main character's movements mirroring those of the most iconic movie cowboys.
"If you put your hand on the pommel of that gun, you gotta pull it. You're not threatening like these guns. They don't threaten. They say and they give you the time. And if you don't do whatever it is they're asking, boom," Wayne said in an interview with The HoloFiles.
Lateef portrayed Din in the first two seasons, and Brendan took over the iconic helmet in the third season.
