No cast members have been confirmed for the Harry Potter reboot, but Emma Watson and Tom Felton are ready to return anytime.

While Daniel Radcliffe has been trying to stay as far away from the Harry Potter franchise as possible, his co-stars don’t mind revisiting the experience. Although, they would have to do it as completely different characters – after all, neither Emma Watson nor Tom Felton is 11 anymore, so playing Hogwarts kids is off the table for both of them.

Back when the Harry Potter film series was coming to an end and the cast was doing promotional interviews, the stars were often asked who they would play in a potential remake far, far in the future. Emma Watson, for instance, seemed rather intent on playing Professor McGonagall “in 30 years.”

In another interview with Hypable, Watson echoed that sentiment. At the premiere of 2012’s The Perks of Being a Wallflower, the actress believed that the remake was still not happening “anytime soon,” but if it had, she would definitely have wanted to play the Head of the Gryffindor House. Emma called McGonagall “kind of badass” (and we couldn’t agree more).

Turns out, the remake is happening sooner than expected, and Emma Watson is still too young to portray McGonagall, but makeup can easily fix that.

In one of the promo interviews for the final Harry Potter installment, Tom Felton jokingly expressed that Daniel Radcliffe could play Snape in the potential reboot, and he could be Dumbledore.

In an interview with The Daily Mail in 2019, the actor approached the question more seriously. He didn’t think that the reboot would be in the works “for a while” either, but believed that it would be a possibility in 20 years’ time. Well, only four years have passed, and here we are.

Felton added that he would’ve come back to play Lucius Malfoy in the remake “in a heartbeat” if he had been old enough at that point. Tom is currently 35, and while he may not be fit to play Dumbledore just yet, he is only four years younger than Jason Isaacs, the original Lucius, was when Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets came out.

Emma Watson is taking a break from acting, but Tom Felton is as active as ever, and he is very involved in the fandom. It’s not too far-fetched to imagine him playing Mr. Malfoy in Max’s new reboot of the saga. That would score the show extra points with the Potterhead oldies!
