This toxic family is more complicated than you think.

Succession is a show full of mysteries and malicious secrets that the characters try to keep from each other.

But there is one thing that no viewer has been in any doubt about over the years of Logan Roy's long life: he hated his own children.

Of course, like everything else on the show, the feeling was much more complicated and rooted in personal trauma, but fans believe they have managed to crack the exact reason for such strong feelings.

Many things that Logan Roy has said or done over the years have sent viewers into a state of shock.

Of course, the children the show focuses on are now grown men and women, but they still seem to be very affected by their father's offensive words and actions.

As the episodes progressed, viewers got to see more of the character's feelings behind the cold corporate facade. But time and again, everyone was surprised by Logan's lack of humanity.

As many believe, the problems are rooted in Logan's past, as well as his own indecision about what kind of life he wants for his children.

He often seems very irritated that none of them knows the "real" world outside of the corporate wealth they have all been surrounded by over the years. This is especially evident when he asks Roman about the price of a gallon of milk.

Yet he remains the person who did everything to ensure that they grew up in this environment and never left.

Would it be fair for any parent to build a perfect playground for their child and then be angry that they never want to leave?

Of course, Roy's children are all delusional about the real world, each in their own way, but whose fault is that?

The only part that remains in the dark is whether or not Logan felt some kind of shame that drove him even further to project his hatred onto those closest to him.

Either way, it's safe to say that it didn't lead to anything good, and only messed up the next generation to pass it on.

Tune in to HBO and don't miss the final two episodes of Succession on Sunday, May 21, and May 28.
