And neither did the Forks residents.

You might think that decades as a vampire would provide enough experience in how to hide your true identity. After all, Edward almost succeeded with Bella: he was extra careful not to expose himself to sunlight, he tamed his hunger, and he even refrained from touching her so that she wouldn't notice how cold his hands were.

Wait, let's stop at the last one. So, about the vampire hands...

It turns out that there was a pretty easy way for the people of Forks to suspect something about Dr. Carlisle Cullen. It's unlikely that they would immediately realize that he was a vampire, but they could definitely tell that something was off - with a simple clue.

"Edward is scared to touch Bella after he accidentally touched her hand and she noticed he was really cold, so how does Carlisle do his job surely he has to touch the patients and they'd notice how cold he is. I guess he wears medical gloves but they're not very thick so I wouldn't have thought they'd stop it," Redditor yikes-scoobs wondered.

Many humans have naturally cold hands, but we know that vampires' body temperatures are supernaturally low, so how in the world has the Cullen patriarch managed to touch people without them having a knee-jerk reaction to how cold he is?

One fan, however, has come up with a pretty reasonable explanation: what if Carlisle just doesn't touch his patients at all?

"Seems hard to believe, but recall in the first twilight movie, Carlisle did not touch Bella once to examine her before declaring her free of traumatic injuries. This may seem impractical, but I think it's plausible. His supernaturally enhanced abilities likely mean that he can listen to a patient's heart and lungs without the need for a stethoscope," Redditor OrangeWipedTheTwins suggested.

If this explanation doesn't work, Twilight fans are no strangers to plot holes and inconsistencies. After all, realism and logic are not what we love about the Twilight saga.
