The movie adaptation of Bella and Edward's love story could never exist if it wasn't for Summit Entertainment.

It appears to be that the first ever Twilight movie could have been a disaster. The plot of the movie was initially very different from what we have now.

The Paramount pictures company had a plan to create another vampire-hunting blockbuster. Which, as we know, is not exactly what Stephanie Meyer's series are about…

The focus of attention in the books is of course the romance between Bella and Edward, and the obstacles they overcome to be together.

But the first company to work with the film suggested a different direction. Bella was about to be not just a vulnerable teenager suffering from her parents divorce and trying to find new friends, but a track star and cruel vampire hunter.

It's still not clear why someone in their right conscience would choose this kind of plot turn and create an action movie when the romance is on the surface.

What's more, Paramount also suggested Bella had a connection with the FBI…

There's even more. Some other changes to the movie included the deaths of some essential characters. And that includes both Charlie and Carlisle. Why on earth?

It's safe to say, the fans are thankful that Paramount's adaptation of Twilight never saw the light of day.

"Had this version been made, it wouldn't have gotten the vitriolic hatedom that the faithful adaptations ended up with, but there would be no great fan following either.

Twilight the movie would be just another generic Blade/Buffy wannabe that would fade into obscurity in less than a year.

Maybe it would bring some modest profit, maybe it would bomb hard, but we wouldn't remember it by now," Reddit user TrollHumper said.

After the disastrous first plan, Summit Entertainment came to the rescue and came out with the ideas we all now know and love.

When Catherine Hardwicke's first Twilight movie hit the screens in 2008, it was exactly what the original book-fans wanted – a true adaptation with the best storylines from Meyers' series.
