What does Batman have to do with Negan and Maggie?

Negan and Maggie from The Walking Dead, and its recent spinoff, Dead City, portrayed by Jeffrey Dean Morgan and Lauren Cohan, have a history of being at each other's throats.

But what you may not know, they were already a couple in another universe. And no, we're not talking about some crazy The Walking Dead fanfiction. We're talking about the DC Extended Universe.

Since its announcement, The Walking Dead: Dead City had fans buzzing. The series focuses on Maggie and Negan, the duo with a tumultuous past, now forced to work together.

But this isn't their first on-screen rodeo together. They made a brief appearance together in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, playing Thomas and Martha Wayne, Batman's ill-fated parents.

Their cameo in the movie is easy to miss or forget, given their screen time is barely over a minute. But their roles are crucial, setting the stage for the entire DC Extended Universe.

It's a strange connection to look back on, especially considering how closely associated both actors have become with TWD.

In Batman v Superman, the opening credits show the tragic murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne. Morgan and Cohan's performances, though brief, are impactful.

They portray the Waynes as a loving family, making their sudden demise all the more heartbreaking.

Interestingly, just weeks after Batman v Superman hit the theaters, Morgan made his debut as Negan in The Walking Dead. His character brutally murders Glenn, Maggie's husband. It's a strange twist of fate to see Thomas Wayne violently kill Martha Wayne's new husband.

While we may not get to see Morgan and Cohan back in action as the Waynes in the DC universe, their on-screen chemistry in The Walking Dead: Dead City is undeniable.

Their characters' complex relationship, marked by years of conflict and eventual reconciliation, is one of the most compelling aspects of the show.

Thankfully, in Dead City, their characters didn't end up as a couple like they did in Batman v Superman. Fans were seriously worried that the show might go down that route and have these two fall in love with each other.
