Sometimes the screenwriters and directors just decide to go with the flow.

Cameos of favorite characters are essential for entertaining the egos of fans. Sometimes, however, cameos are so absurd they can create unintentional plot holes that leave the audience confused.

Here are some of the most unexpected TV and movie cameos that have left us scratching our heads.

Wonder Woman — Shazam! Fury of the Gods

The appearance of the Goddess and the Daughters of Zeus in the second installment of Shazam! is a treat for our eyes, but also a massive plot hole regarding Gal Gadot's character's involvement with the Gods and the Wizard's staff.

In the first part of the film, we witnessed the Wizard's staff being broken, which led to the Gods being sealed. Wonder Woman's appearance after this pivotal moment raises questions about her involvement with the staff and her past battles, leaving fans wondering how these events could co-exist together.

Barney — How I Met Your Father

The spin-off series How I Met Your Father features several characters from the original How I Met Your Mother, including Cobie Smulders' Robin Scherbatsky. While Sophie, the main character, recognizes Robin and knows her life and career, she does not recognize Barney, aka Neil Patrick Harris, Robin's ex-husband, when they meet.

For Sophie, who seems to be a huge fan of Robin, not recognizing her idol's ex-partner is a curious omission of the show.

Stan Lee — Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

In James Gunn 's iconic superhero movie, the king of MCU cameos, Stan Lee, mentions that he is a FedEx delivery man, referencing his cameo in Captain America: Civil War. There seems to be nothing wrong with that, but the problem is that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 takes place a long time before Civil War.

This inconsistency proved that Gunn was just as confused by the sheer number of MCU movies and universes as the rest of us.

J. Jonah Jameson — Spider-Man: No Way Home

Speaking of MCU multiverses, J.K. Simmons' iconic return as J. Jonah Jameson in Spider-Man: No Way Home pokes a hole in one. While other characters in the Spider-Man universe change depending on reality and are played by different actors, Jameson is played by the same actor from the Raimi trilogy.

While this plot hole may seem inaccurate to some viewers, for us it is a canon event, we can not interfere with.
