Tom Felton’s Ever-So-Slightly Criminal Advice to New Harry Potter Cast

The original Harry Potter movies took over the world just like the books did, turning the Wizarding World into one of the biggest franchises ever despite only having so much source material. Currently, a brand-new Harry Potter TV show is being developed over at HBO, and the original cast has some words of advice for their successors.

Well, namely, it’s Tom Felton, and his advice might be somewhat questionable.

Tom Felton Wants New Cast to Have Fun

So far, we have no idea who the new Harry Potter stars will be: there have been no announcements or even half-decent rumors about the new cast. But whoever the lucky new Hogwarts students might be, Tom Felton — the original Draco Malfoy star — has quite a bit of advice for them. Words of wisdom, if you will.

“Take more pictures and try and steal more props. I'm joking about the last one, but take more pictures because when I find one that I haven't seen for a long time now, it reminds me of how much fun we were having. Bearing in mind, we didn't have camera phones then or anything like that,” Felton shared with Collider.

Is it just us or did the actor’s “I’m joking” remark have to do with legal reasons and definitely not his backing out on his words? After all, the original Harry Potter cast, like most actors, were notorious for sneaking various props from the movie set!

Tom Felton Received Different Advice Back Then

Back in the day, when young Tom was just cast to portray Draco Malfoy, he didn’t have such wise predecessors to rely on their words: he and his colleagues were the first Harry Potter actors ever. But he had wise older colleagues to rely upon — and his on-screen father gave him perhaps the best advice a young actor can get.

“I'm not sure I'm equipped to give advice to anyone. I think Jason Isaacs, [the Lucius Malfoy star,] I'm pretty sure one of his first pieces of advice was, ‘Don't take advice from anyone,’” Felton recalled.

Well, what’s done is done! Tom Felton had to figure out to steal Harry Potter props on his own, but the new generation will know to do that from the start, thanks to him.
