The line was so great it made the final cut.

Improvisation on set is one of the hardest things to do for the actors.

The script doesn't always even leave space for it; still, sometimes there are some perfect opportunities to come up with something on the spot.

And if the line or the scene makes the final cut, it definitely serves as yet another recognition of acting talent.

What's even more impressive is when the improvisation is perfectly done by the child actor. There are not many examples of this, but one iconic Tom Felton 's line in Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets could be used as the prime example.

The dialogue wasn't improvised completely, however. The last line Draco says, "Reading? I didn't know you could read" was.

As years went by and new Harry Potter movies were coming out, this line to Harry remained one of the fan-favorites and made a lot of video compilations of Draco's best roasts.

It was later revealed that in the original script Malfoy was meant to move on straight to Ron Weasley, asking him what he is doing here.

However, the reason why Tom Felton decided to improvise on the spot, is actually very fitting and believable for any child actor. He simply forgot the next line.

That information was officially confirmed by the Warner Bros. Studio Tour London Twitter account, although it was not really needed. The confusion you see in the eyes of his co-star is enough to believe the improv story.

Luckily, the comeback that Tom Felton came out with instead of his forgotten real line was so good it made the team include it in the final cut of the movie, and we doubt the young actor got into any trouble for his bad memory.

If you are feeling nostalgic and willing to throw a Harry Potter rewatch movie night, all films are available to stream on MAX or Peacock TV.
