The stunt king was not impressed with a medical condition Miles Teller developed on the set of Top Gun: Maverick. Cruise's response proved the actor was as tough as his characters.

Tom Cruise probably has ten times more epic on-screen moments than any other Hollywood actor. After all, the Top Gun star didn't get his status as the ultimate Stunt King for nothing. Doing his own stunts is part of the Tom Cruise brand. One can't be that cool on camera without being tough in real life. That's exactly what Cruise showed during the filming of Top Gun: Maverick, according to his co-star Miles Teller.

Teller was portraying Lieutenant Bradley "Rooster" Bradshaw in the movie. Working with Tom Cruise has become a unique acting experience for the 35-year-old actor. Besides forming a close bond with the older actor, Teller got many valuable lessons. For example, he described to Pinkvilla how blown away he was by Cruise's attention to details. This sentiment echoed the opinions of many Hollywood stars who had a similar experience working with the stunt king.

"Nobody is doing this job the way Tom is and I think we're all really lucky to watch him do it," Miles Teller said.

Cruise's experience in piloting and his true leadership had brought the cast closer together which helped them overcome some challenges, Teller added. Acting in Maverick could be a demanding and even dangerous task at times. For example, Teller had a medical emergency after flying a fighter jet. He recalled developing a fever, and getting itchy hives all over his body. When his blood was analyzed, the results were more than surprising.

"I [had] flame-retardant, pesticides and jet fuel in my blood," Teller shared with ET.

Apparently, this condition is a thing among pilots. Fuels can enter the body through the lungs, digestive tract, or skin. Some components of the fuels can pass into the bloodstream resulting in Teller's symptoms.

But this unexpected and somewhat cool result didn't impress Tom Cruise. The following day, the actor asked Teller what had happened to him. When excited Teller tried to impress Cruise with the fact that there was jet fuel in his blood, the stunt king didn't skip a beat.

"Yeah, I was born with it, kid," Cruise replied.

An epic response fit for a stunt king.
