Despite the recent news of Tom Cruise’s frustration over having his new Mission: Impossible movie blocked by competitors, the actor… Just went on Twitter to borderline promote them!

Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part I has gone through production hell thanks to the pandemic restrictions and an entire sequence of unfortunate events. With the movie finally hitting the theaters on July 12, the actor’s run into a whole other problem: M:I7 will only get a week for an actual proper run.

One weekend after Mission: Impossible 7’s release, two other giants are coming out — Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Gerwig’s Barbie. Since Christopher Nolan ’s the best pal of IMAX, Cruise will automatically lose all the IMAX screens in the world on July 21; and Barbie will take over the schedules of many non-IMAX theaters.

We already wrote about Tom Cruise’s reported meltdowns. Insiders claimed that the actor was making rounds to show his new movie to various cinema owners, convincing them to keep M:I7 in their schedule after July 21. Some even stated that he personally reached out to his competitors to postpone their releases!

Perhaps, Cruise has realized by now that the situation can’t be changed and this sort of news really hurts his public image. Now, instead of trying to fight his competitors’ movies behind the scenes, the actor went ahead and pretty much promoted them on his Twitter! That’s an unexpected but bold move if we’ve ever seen one.

“This summer is full of amazing movies to see in theaters. Congratulations, Harrison Ford, on 40 years of Indy and one of the most iconic characters in history. I love a double feature, and it doesn't get more explosive (or more pink) than one with Oppenheimer and Barbie,” Tom Cruise wrote.

The tweet immediately drew the attention of both fans and the official accounts of Oppenheimer, Barbie, and Indiana Jones. While the movies’ SMM managers are happily chatting in the comments, the fans are praising Cruise for being supportive of other projects and caring for the industry. A wholesome picture, overall!

It would’ve been a bit more wholesome if not for the previous reports, but oh well — we’re all humans, and we can all have a meltdown or two, so that’s OK.
