There goes the last straw in fandom’s patience.

The Vampire Diaries fandom has suffered a lot over the years. Based on the book series by L.J. Smith, the show adaptation came in strong with a cast that didn't really match any of the book descriptions, and with the intention of creating something different.

While some changes were appreciated, others felt like a deliberate attempt to ruin the story.

By the final eighth season of the series, fans were tired of counting the plot holes and demanding justice for their favorite characters.

Although many genuinely loved the story and had grown accustomed to the actors who were able to bring their characters to life, the audience was ready to say goodbye.

And even in the last episode, which was supposed to be the epitome of everything viewers wanted to see, the showrunners still managed to screw things up.

Aside from the ending, there was at least one visual detail that made Elena Gilbert's scenes impossible to watch without cringing: Nina Dobrev's eyebrows.

It's no surprise that the actress changed her look over the years of filming. When the show first started, a narrower and more arched brow shape was in style, and it suited Dobrev very well.

However, as time went on, the trends changed to a fuller and more natural look, and the actress followed suit.

The question of which style suits Nina Dobrev better is subjective, so everyone has different opinions. What really bugs fans is that this sudden change doesn't make sense for Elena, since her character just woke up from a coma.

If anything, her eyebrows would have looked a little more natural in reality, but nothing like they did in the show.

Of course, there are a lot of technicalities that went into the process. Since the actress was working on the other project, she couldn't have her appearance altered in any way.

Also, Dobrev's contract with The Vampire Diaries was already over at that point, and her comeback was just a nice nod to the fans.

Whether you've noticed this inconsistency in Elena's appearance or just focused on the storyline, The Vampire Diaries finale is probably still fresh in your mind. However, if you want to catch up on the rest of the series, you can stream the show on Netflix or Amazon Prime Video.
