Timothy Olyphant is returning to the role of Raylan Givens and the Justified universe in a revival, titled Justified: City Primeval.

It is a miniseries, based on Elmore Leonard's book of the same name. And one notable feature of that miniseries is the role of Raylan's daughter Willa – this time she's played by Olyphant's real-life daughter, Vivian Olyphant.

Surely, such casting must add a level of realism to performances of the pair.

But of course, the producers were more than a bit nervous about it at first, having doubts about Vivian's ability, and fearing a conflict with their star actor, but, as they later told in an interview, those doubts and fears were dispelled decisively enough by her audition

But after working with his daughter on the set, Olyphant has admitted that the experience went just about as you might expect.

When asked by the host on Late Night With Seth Meyers about all of it, Timothy grinned and answered: "I don't recommend it."

Olyphant then explained the impact of family dynamics on the on-set culture. While some among the cast and the crew might have felt somewhat intimidated by his status as the lead of the series, his daughter, of course, was not:

"We hired the one person, guaranteed, who doesn't feel that way at all. In fact, she's not only not nervous around me, she's kind of over it."

But Vivian treating a vastly more experienced actor (and an executive producer on the show, as well) as her daddy dear, and not the boss, also caused problems. And trying to pull rank on his own daughter was not exactly fun for Timothy: "You know what it's like to have to whisper to your daughter, 'You can't talk to me like that,' on the set of your own show?"

And perhaps because he was the boss, he also ended up vastly less popular among the co-workers than his daughter, too! "She'd write 'favorite Olyphant' on the big board and put my name and her name," Timothy revealed. "I lost in a landslide."

He only received any votes because of his role in The Mandalorian, if you believe him: "There was like one 'Star Wars ' geek that voted for me."

All jokes aside, Timothy ultimately praised Vivian: "She was remarkable and it was a joy to work with her."
