Thought Homelander & Stormfront Was The Worst Couple? Wait Till You See The Boys Season 4
The level of creepiness in Homelander's relationships seems to grow with the development of his character throughout the series.
So far, Homelander has had four on-screen relationships, and all of them have been troubling, to say the least. Madelyn Stillwell was more of a mother figure than a lover. For her, their twisted relationship was the only way to control the sociopathic Supe. For Homelander, it was an extreme form of the Oedipal complex. This confusing relationship has given viewers some of the most perverse scenes and endless memes about Homelander and breast milk.
Homelander's relationships with Queen Maeve and Starlight were mostly public. Until the season 3 finale, the Supe relied heavily on public opinion, so he chose to attach his public image to his loveable teammates, even though they were not exactly happy about it.
Without a doubt, Homelander's most genuine connection was with Stormfront. However, hardly anyone would argue that their relationship was healthy.
The Nazi-turned-superhero did manage to influence Homelander and his actions. But not in a good way. By enabling his every twisted desire, Stormfront made Homelander believe that nothing was bigger than himself, not Vaught, not even public opinion.
Season 3 showed how this kind of empowerment can have devastating consequences. Despite Starlight revealing the truth about Homelander and the killing of an innocent protester at a public rally, people didn't seem to care, clearly showing that there's little that can stop Homelander now.
With this new mindset, Homelander has become an even greater threat. He no longer has to worry about everyone loving him and can now date whoever he wants. And if his love life with Stormfront was deadly, imagine how horrible his new relationship could be.
As head of Vaught, Homelander can fill the three vacant spots in The Seven, and Eric Kripke has already named two of the candidates. Firecracker and Sister Sage are not based on comic book characters, so little can be said about them. But one thing is clear: Homelander will choose those who support and enable him.
Some set photos suggest that Firecracker will be Homelander's new love interest. Whether she becomes a Stormfront-level villain or appeals to Homelander's psychopathic tendencies, it is highly unlikely that the new, even more egomaniacal Homelander will make healthy relationship choices, which most likely means that his season 4 dating life will be even scarier than before.
