Thor 4 Managed to Waste Both MCU's Best Villain And Best Actor
The lame bingo card we wish we never had.
The MCU has been able to attract some of the biggest names in Hollywood to play its roles, including Robert Downey Jr, Scarlett Johansson and Chris Evans.
But one actor who recently joined Marvel is widely considered one of the greatest performers of his generation. But his character has been so underdeveloped that the role doesn't test his abilities.
In 2020, it was announced that Christian Bale would be joining the MCU in the film Thor: Love and Thunder.
The former Batman was set to play the villain Gorr the God Butcher, a character from the comics known for his brutal and merciless ways.
Fans were ecstatic at the prospect of seeing Bale in the MCU, and many were excited to see what he would bring to the role.
However, when the film was released in 2022, fans were disappointed. Bale's character, while certainly menacing, was not given much to do in the movie.
Gorr only appeared in a handful of scenes, and his motivations and backstory were never fully explored. Many fans felt that Bale's talent was wasted in the role and that he deserved better.
Despite this, there is no denying that Bale's performance as Gorr was chilling and intense, and he brought a level of gravitas to the villain that few other actors could have matched.
Bale is known for his ability to transform himself for a role, and he did not disappoint in Thor. His physical transformation, which included a bald head and muscular physique, was impressive, and he fully embodied this terrifying evil.
Fans are also praising Ultron, an incredibly intriguing villain with an interesting motivation who didn't have time to reveal himself before being defeated by the Avengers.
Viewers also want to see more of Taskmaster, played by Ukrainian actress Olga Kurylenko, and Killmonger, portrayed on screen by Creed star Michael B. Jordan.
While it is disappointing to see Bale in such a small part, there is always the potential for Christian to take on another role in the MCU.
His face was pretty unrecognizable as a villain, so Bale would have no trouble reinventing himself into any of the available options in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
